New Approach to Review Videos for Rankings

Review videos can be short and sweet and still get on the first page of Google organic listings.

We’re trying a new approach to review videos for our local clients and it seems to be working well. The key is to get our review videos onto the first page of the Google organic listings.

Anyone interested in internet marketing should know that you MUST be on the first page of Google if you want to get found by people searching. 92% of people never move to page 2 and beyond.

We’ve written earlier about the positive impact that a company’s review videos can have on their marketing experts. And review videos fill a valuable niche when people search for a company and reviews about those companies. Or they may even search for a particular company name, plus the word “review.”

Our new approach is to do videos that each feature one review from a client’s Yelp page, Google page, web page, etc. and wrap an intro and close.

These review videos, while short, sweet and to the point, can be optimized correctly and by using our “review video magic” the video can show up on page 1 of the organic listings, not just the video search listings. Here is an example of the latest video that we did that got us ranked on page 1 overnight:

We just put this up for ourselves a day ago and it’s on page 1 of Google’s organic search already for “Silicon Valley video production company review.”

Similarly, if one were interested in our company specifically and searches for Penrose Productions + “review” we also show up on the first page of the Google organic listings.

We will continue to test other videos with other terms and report back.

But we’re very optimistic that this will be a windfall for our clients once we post these video reviews.

If you would like a chance to see what these review videos can do to get your business found on the internet and drive people through the door, please give us a call at 650-969-8273

Thanks and Happy New Year!

Review Videos are Great for Driving Business Customers

Review videos can help a business build customer confidence in their product or service.

And when a customer has that confidence, that’s when they’ll pick up the phone or come in the door.

When evaluating a business or product that he or she is unfamiliar with, a new client will often consult reviews of that business or product. While many will go directly to Yelp or some other review site that they trust, many times they will do a web search. Typically this search will consist of this search string:

  • city or location name
  • type of business or service
  • the word “review”

Will this customer find your business if they search using that keyword phrase?

Review videos can make sure that they do find you.

As we’ve mentioned before, 92% of Google searches never get past page 1, so it’s imperative that your business get ranked on that first page. And once you are on that front page, a great way to get listed is to have a video. The YouTube thumbnail that shows on the page really makes your video stand out from the rest of the text-based entries on the page.

Review videos are a terrific way to get your business in the best light as well. For the business that may have some less than complimentary reviews on Yelp, the review videos will of course feature only the best reviews. While completely truthful, the review videos naturally do not highlight negative reviews.

And when clients see all-positive review videos, they are more likely to contact that business.

Let’s show an example of a review video, shall we?

In this video, the search term we are trying to rank for is “Palo Alto home care service review” and after being uploaded a few days ago to YouTube, it is already ranking on page 1 of the search engine results among over 9 million results. In fact, it’s the 6th ranked entry in the organic (non-paid) search engine results. See how the video thumbnail draws the eye?

palo alto home care service review

Here’s the video itself as seen on YouTube:

Our task over the next several days is to get the video ranked even higher on page 1 so that it will be even more visible to anyone searching for that search term. In addition this review video will climb up in rankings for other search terms for which it is not already on page 1.

Since we are the specialist at getting review videos ranked onto page 1, we’re looking forward to showing how this happens.

And if you want YOUR review video produced and placed onto page 1 of Google, it’s cheaper than you think. To learn more, look at what we do at Penrose Productions. To get us to help you get ranked in the search engines, contact us at 650-969-8273.

What are business videos and why should we make one?

Today, business videos step up to fill the  marketing gap left by media advertising and newspapers.

As the internet continues to grow, marketer and customer interaction can happen in numerous ways and one of the best ways to get recognition is through business videos.

So what are business videos and why should I make one? Business videos are videos specifically made to demonstrate any product or brand which a company wants to market. Videos can help a customer understand the product’s features and benefits and they are powerful because a lot of information can be delivered in a short clip. This short clip has a wide reach as it can be used on multiple channels online and offline and via mobile. Business videos engage the audience which is the key to marketing today; after all a product demo on YouTube is easy to find watch and share and you just don’t get this with the traditional marketing methods.

What are sales funnels and why are they important?

sales funnelA good sales funnel consists of three levels:

1) The upper level which should be high level ideas and content designed to make potential leads complete an action rather than buy.

2) The Mid-level where your content is more in-depth allowing you to better qualify your original leads.

3) The lower level; this content should help you close the sale with your now pre-qualified buyers.

A good sales funnel can help turn more leads into customers and then retain them.

Good business videos help in reaching a wide range of leads before helping covert them into customers. However before making business videos several things should be taken into consideration:

1) Firstly the actual money comes from the lower level of sales funnel so business videos are particularly effective at targeting the lower level of sales funnels.

2) Try to keep business videos targeting the upper levels of the sales funnel brief; you want your potential lead to want to know more and have to continue through the funnel to find more.

3) Strategy is important; so try to come up with a good plan of how you will use video in your sales funnel before you start.

Business videos are an engaging way of interacting with your audience and can provide you with massive social proof due to the viral nature of being able to share videos online; they are the perfect promotional tool in today’s market.

San Jose Video Production Client Referral

A San Jose Video Production customer of ours returns after several years and recommends us for work with her new company.

We didn’t get to be the leading video production company in San Jose and Silicon Valley by disappointing our clients. As a result, our clients have give us a 100% satisfaction rating for our Silicon Valley/San Jose video production work.

In this survey, conducted by an independent auditing agency making blind calls, when our clients were asked if they needed the services of a Silicon Valley/San Jose video production company in the future, would they call or recommend Penrose Productions. They all said “YES”.

This has been a result of over three decades cultivating our reputation for great work and service.

Over the years, our Silicon Valley/San Jose video production company has focused on becoming a real partner with each of our clients to bring success to their video productions. From the beginning of the process we establish production goals so that they will meet and exceed the client’s requirements of:

  • the intended audience
  • what the video production should accomplish
  • how it will work with other aspects of the project
  • how it will be implemented.

Yet despite our stellar track record, we are always pleasantly surprised when clients from “back in the day” look us up to give us more video production business, or a referral to do so.

This has happened lots recently and just again this last week.

One customer with whom we did dozens of San Jose video productions at her previous company has contacted us again in her new position. Her new company is one of the largest in Silicon Valley. The company has a large San Jose video production department, but using them is a lengthy process. And since she

san jose video production needed to move NOW, she knew just who to call. So she joins the ranks of a half dozen customers who just this calendar year have hired us again despite having moved on to other positions and to other employers.

Naturally we’re delighted for the big vote of confidence.

We also are excited about the opportunities to renew our working relationship with those clients. In many cases we worked countless hours on projects with these folks and have really bonded with them.

We started in video production when it was a fledgling business. It has always been our goal to develop lasting relationships with superior service for these clients, and our track record and many video production testimonials have helped us meet this goal.

San Francisco Business Video – Our Specialty

Since getting our start shooting San Francisco business videos through our Bay Area video production company Penrose Productions in 1981, we have been committed to creating high quality, business videos for our clients.

For sales and marketing videos, we emphasize the creation of outstanding videos that present our clients’ products and/or services in a way that gets customers to buy, or at least consider buying, from our clients.

But yet another category of Silicon Valley and San Francisco business video productions that we often do might be considered communications videos. Often these will document the meetings, seminars, proceedings, training, etc. of our clients so that the information can be more widely disseminated. These meetings vary in their interest to us as observers. Of course, the content is not designed to appeal to us, but rather to the client’s target market, whether an internal or external audience.

We consider it a plus when the content is something to which we can actually understand or can relate.

If we can actually apply the content to our own lives or business, that’s a huge plus.

As an example of the opposite, when we shoot high tech training as we so often do with Silicon Valley video productions, we can be totally lost when listening to content about advanced electrical engineering and computer science.

In contrast to this, we were recently shooting a San Francisco business video for a top insurance company’s management meeting at the Ritz-Carlton in San Francisco.  This was our sixth straight year shooting and editing for this company and we find the whole experience a consistently interesting one. The content of the 3-day meeting was not about insurance, but rather sought to promote dialogue with the nearly one hundred management attendees as the company worked on growth strategies to get to the next level of revenue and profitability.

San Francisco training videoAs I listened to the discussions on business development and strategy it took me back to my graduate school days at the University of California.  The work was led by outside consultants from Management Systems of Los Angeles. As the company principals led the group in their work, it was eerily similar to being in the classroom getting my MBA in Berkeley all over again.  I found myself not just overseeing the recording of the event, but I was inspired and renewed in my original vision to provide amazing San Francisco business video production to businesses large and small. Many of the management concepts shared in the meeting were lessons I originally learned at Cal, and it was inspiring to get a “refresher course” on these principles.

The truth is, I often get involved in the day to day operations of running the video production.

But this time it was a treat (and an annual one at that with this client) that allowed me to also hear top-flight consultants and apply their lessons on strategy and tactics to our own company.  It served to re-engergize me and helps me look at the big picture for Penrose Productions.

At Penrose we have a passion to ignite the Bay Area business community with a desire to share and expand their business concepts through San Francisco business videos.  Now more than ever, video is the key to conveying a positive image of your products, services and overall company vision.   The problem is, many businesses still try to “do it themselves” and end up shooting themselves in the foot.  I made a commitment to quality video production back in grad school and that has never changed.  Just as with hiring any expert, videos from a professional Bay Area video production company can help take businesses to the next level.

As I reflect back on the many videos we’ve done through the years, I realize that San Francisco video production has changed a great deal over the years.

Penrose Productions has always remained at the forefront of producing San Francisco business videos in both quality and customer service.

Professional Video: Do Not Try this at Home (or Work)

Professional video production doesn’t require lots of great video gear. But it helps.

When a company wants to put forth it’s best image, it’s no secret that a professional video production will help. As we’ve commented before, professional video is becoming a much greater factor in not just communicating your message, but getting your business found in the first place.

Back in 1981, we began our professional video production business and the list of equipment to accumulate was daunting, to say the least. Cameras were extremely heavy and were never built together with a recorder. This trend did not really reverse itself until about 10 years ago. In this picture from 2004, you can see us on a shoot in China using our large broadcast quality camera. The thick (somewhat twisted) cord in the lower left connects the professional video camera to a recorder, which is out of frame. The cameras seemed to weigh a ton too. 🙁

professional video

These days, cameras are becoming smaller, lighter and more compact. The recorder (whether it is in digital format or to tape) is now almost always included in the camcorder unit. And even as these professional video camcorders become tinier, they actually put out quality that is superior to that given by the cameras for which we spent 10 times as much almost 30 years ago. Even an iPhone can produce vastly superior quality to that we got in the 1980s.

Obviously, for truly professional video images it’s not the camera, but the person behind the camera that matters.

small video cameraThe tendency today is to simply whip out the camcorder and shoot, and this is reinforced by:

  • a YouTube culture that values and rewards quantity over quality, and
  • excellent quality video even becoming available on iPhones and Android devices.

But when it comes to your company image, you need real professional video services.

In addition to the knowledge and experience that comes with a professional video production company like ours, we bring a wide variety of equipment and personnel to the shoot to make the video look and sound as good as possible. Because of this additional gear, we don’t travel light, as you can see from this behind the scenes look at a professional Silicon Valley video shoot used for training.

professional video shootWe like to think that our professional videos are like just about any other professional service. You need several components to make your video a success:

  • know-how
  • experience
  • the right equipment

If you’re missing any or all of these, you’re missing your chance to create a favorable impression for your company. Call the pros at Penrose Productions.

Northern California Video Production Work: In-home Testimonial

Penrose Productions called on to shoot a testimonial in Northern California video production work

As Northern California video production pros, we’re called upon to travel throughout Northern California, Silicon Valley, the Bay Area (and even for worldwide video productions) to shoot for various clients. Recently we went to Sacramento to capture an interview with a lovely and articulate woman in her home.

As you can see, our video production setup included a DSLR HD video camera, lights from our Arri kit and a sound package including a Sennheiser microphone and Shure portable audio mixer. The lights included a key light, fill light, and back light, and the light had to be filtered by blue gels. By doing this we were able to match the color temperature of the abundant sunlight that was coming in through the windows.

SimpsonDOGeviti_11

The audio (below) was relatively easy as we only had one microphone input needed. The interviewer’s comments were not to be recorded for the video. We placed the microphone above the interviewee and just out of frame from the camera’s view.

While on location for this Northern California video production, we compiled a short video to let you take a look behind the scenes.

This video shows how we set up the camera, lights and audio and should you need Northern Califonria video production done in the future, here’s a glimpse of what to expect.
